About This Project
This lake-view lot in Sarasota County called for a pool that would make the most of its natural backdrop. The homeowners wanted a design that felt luxurious and dramatic — a pool that would look as good at night as it did in the afternoon sun. The result is a geometric pool with a dark PebbleTec interior, a vanishing edge facing the community lake, and a raised round spa clad in stacked-stone veneer.
The dark interior finish gives the water a deep sapphire color that mirrors the lake beyond the infinity edge. Gold accent waterline tile and coping add warmth and contrast against the dark water. The raised round spa, with its active jets and stacked-stone veneer wall, serves as both a functional hot tub and a visual centerpiece of the pool area. Water spills from the spa into the pool below, adding sound and movement to the space.
The screened enclosure provides privacy and keeps the pool area free of debris while maintaining the open lake views. Pentair IntelliTouch automation allows the homeowners to control the pool, spa, lights, and water features from a smartphone. Pool Creations managed all permits with Sarasota County and provided a 10-year structural warranty on the shell.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a dark interior pool finish and what does it look like?
A dark interior pool finish uses a deep-colored plaster, pebble, or quartz aggregate — such as PebbleTec Midnight Blue, StoneScapes Tahoe Blue, or a dark gray quartz — to give the pool water a rich, jewel-toned appearance. In direct sunlight, the water appears deep sapphire or emerald. At night with LED lighting, the effect is dramatic and luxurious. Dark interiors are especially popular on lake-view and waterfront lots where the pool is meant to mirror the natural water beyond.
What is the difference between PebbleTec and StoneScapes for a dark interior pool?
Both PebbleTec and StoneScapes are pebble aggregate finishes that outperform standard plaster in durability and appearance. PebbleTec uses a proprietary blend of natural pebbles and is known for its tactile texture and long lifespan (20+ years). StoneScapes uses a finer aggregate and offers a smoother surface. Pool Creations is an authorized applicator for both brands and can help you choose the right finish based on your aesthetic goals and budget.
Can Pool Creations build an infinity-edge pool in Sarasota County?
Yes. Pool Creations has built vanishing-edge and infinity-edge pools throughout Sarasota County, including on lake-view, golf-course, and preserve-view lots. We handle all engineering, permitting, and construction in-house, including the catch basin and recirculation system required for a true infinity edge.
What is a raised spa and how is it different from an in-pool spa?
A raised spa sits above the pool water level on a structural pedestal, typically clad in stone veneer, tile, or stucco. Water spills from the raised spa into the pool below, creating a water feature effect. A raised spa is a design statement as well as a functional hot tub — it adds visual height and drama to the pool area. An in-pool spa is built at the same level as the pool and is less visually prominent.
How long does a new pool construction project take in Sarasota County?
Most new pool construction projects in Sarasota County take 10 to 16 weeks from permit approval to final inspection. Sarasota County permit processing typically takes 4 to 8 weeks. Pool Creations provides a detailed project schedule with every proposal and has an in-house permit team to expedite the process.
