About This Project

This canal-front property in Venice / Nokomis, FL presented a unique opportunity to build a pool that truly integrates with the waterfront setting. The homeowners wanted a vanishing-edge design that would create a seamless visual connection between the pool and the canal beyond — a goal that required careful engineering, precise leveling, and a dedicated recirculation system for the infinity edge.

Pool Creations designed and built a rectangular gunite pool with a full vanishing edge on the canal-facing side. The pool features a blue mosaic waterline tile and a raised tile feature wall on the exterior, white travertine coping, and a broad lounge deck with room for outdoor furniture. The aerial drone photo shows the full scope of the project — the pool, paver patio, and dock all working together as a cohesive waterfront living space.

All Pentair equipment was installed on a clean concrete pad: variable-speed pump, cartridge filter, salt chlorinator, heat pump, and IntelliTouch automation with remote access via smartphone. Pool Creations handled all permits with the City of Venice and Sarasota County, including the required waterfront setback review.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Pool Creations build a pool on a canal-front property in Venice, FL?

Yes. Pool Creations has extensive experience building pools on waterfront and canal-front properties throughout Venice and Nokomis. We handle all engineering, permitting, and coordination with Sarasota County and the City of Venice, including any required setback variances or waterfront buffer compliance.

What is a vanishing-edge (infinity-edge) pool and how does it work?

A vanishing-edge pool — also called an infinity-edge or negative-edge pool — has one or more walls that are level with the water surface, creating the illusion that the water extends to the horizon. Water flows over the edge into a catch basin below and is recirculated by a dedicated pump. They are especially dramatic on waterfront lots where the pool visually merges with the canal, lake, or Gulf.

How long does a new pool construction project take in Venice, FL?

Most new pool construction projects in Venice take 10 to 16 weeks from permit approval to final inspection. The timeline depends on pool size, features, and permit processing times with Sarasota County or the City of Venice. Pool Creations provides a detailed project schedule with every proposal.

Does Pool Creations handle permits for new pool construction in Venice?

Yes. Pool Creations manages all permit applications, engineering drawings, and inspections with the City of Venice and Sarasota County as part of every new construction project. We have an in-house permit team and long-standing relationships with local building departments.

What pool finishes work best for a waterfront pool in Venice?

For waterfront pools, we typically recommend PebbleTec or StoneScapes finishes for their durability and resistance to the salt-air environment. Dark interior finishes (such as PebbleTec Midnight Blue or StoneScapes Tahoe Blue) are popular on waterfront lots because they create a dramatic visual connection with the canal or Gulf water. We are an authorized applicator for both PebbleTec and StoneScapes.
